Tennessee football head coach Jeremy Pruitt has 10 early enrollees for 2019. Here is how those Volunteers rank by the most to gain in spring ball.

As Tennessee football gets set to begin spring practice, they’ll get an early look at 10 members from their top 12 2019 recruiting class. With so much help needed after a 5-7 year, Jeremy Pruitt is likely to give all of these guys a significant look.

The Vols not only get 10 guys to look at early, but they also get some of the elite players from the class. Although they don’t have their best commitment for the spring, their only Rivals five-star in offensive lineman Darnell Wright, eight of their 12 four-stars are among the early enrollees.

Spring practice is always a great chance to find new contributors, and with so many quality early enrollees, Tennessee football has a huge advantage. The Vols can get a jump on their depth chart and also a jump when it comes to developing some of their top players.

Jeremy Pruitt and his staff will have a chance to find some significant talent early on, and that’s what we’re going to focus on here. In this post, we’re going to rank all 10 early enrollees by who has the most to gain in the spring.

Our criteria includes a few things. We’ll take into account how wide open the starting opportunities are at the position each player is at, how much they can separate themselves from the pack in the spring, and how talented we think they are. That final one is about projections, but recruiting rankings combined with extenuating circumstances usually don’t lie.

We can take all of that into account, and that gives us a pretty good read over who has a chance to shine throughout the next month and a half. These guys need to take advantage of every opportunity before other recruits get here and before guys on the team get healthy.

So what do we make of those opportunities? Let’s go ahead and break that down now. This is our ranking of the 10 Tennessee football early enrollees based on who has the most to gain in spring practice for 2019.
