Everything that applies to Tyus Fields at cornerback applies to Warren Burrell. Tennessee football’s situation at cornerback gives both of them something to play for this spring, and that’s why they’re in the middle of the pack on this list.

However, Burrell is a bit higher than Fields because of his potential. Burrell brings more size to the position, and he has more raw potential. Fields is more technically skilled. That means that spring practice is a bigger advantage for Burrell because he can catch up on the technical aspects of the game while having the physical advantages.

Another four-star recruit, Burrell is another Georgia prospect that Jeremy Pruitt and co. seem to love. The Vols have a huge pickup with him, and he could immediately work his way into the rotation if he picks up the defense in time.

One clear advantage for Burrell is his love for the Vols already. It helped him recruit other players to UT, and that leadership will be noticed by the coaches. They likely already want to give him a solid look in spring ball.

To be fair, there are still guys like Shawn Shamburger, Baylen Buchanan and Trevon Flowers who are in the running for nickel. But Burrell may be more physically gifted than all of them, and that’s what puts him in the top half of this list.
