Tennessee basketball: 5 things a national title would mean for the Vols
The 2018-19 Tennessee basketball team has had an outstanding season. With only one game left, a National Championship could be a real possibility.
What a year it has been for Rick Barnes and the Tennessee basketball team. With only one game left in the season, the Vols have the opportunity to win back-to-back SEC regular-season titles as well as make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.
The win against Mississippi State on Tuesday night gave the Vols their first undefeated record at home since the 2007-08 season. That year’s squad finished the regular season with a 28-3 record with losses to Texas (neutral site), at Kentucky, and in Nashville against Vanderbilt.
That looks very similar to this season. The 2018-19 Tennessee basketball team has three losses on the season with the first one coming back in November to the Kansas Jayhawks in a neutral site game. The other two losses came on the road against two current top-10 teams in Kentucky and LSU.
Being ranked in the top-10 all season, the Vols have an excellent opportunity to make history this season by making a run at a National Championship. In this post, we go over five things a National Championship would mean for the Vols’ athletic program.
