Ever since arriving on campus, Carlin Fils-Aime has had a tumultuous career. He was deep in the Tennessee football depth chart as a freshman with Jalen Hurd, Alvin Kamara and John Kelly on there. But all three are gone now, and he’s still fighting for a role behind Ty Chandler, Tim Jordan and Jeremy Banks.

With Madre London gone and Fils-Aime spending this spring at running back full-time, he has a chance to make an impression entering his senior year. After all, last year, he spent the spring at defensive back before switching to his original position midseason.

However, even with the advantage of Jeremy Pruitt wanting to go four-deep at the position, Fils-Aime needs to have a great spring to make an impression. After all, Eric Gray is a freshman and an early enrollee, so he has a chance to catch up and learn a lot about the system.

As a result, Fils-Aime needs to spend all spring not letting Gray surpass him. After returning to running back last year, Fils-Aime did have a touchdown against the South Carolina Gamecocks. But he also had a fumble returned for a touchdown against the Missouri Tigers, so it cancels out. Now, he has an offseason to prove he’s a full-time feature back. But spring will be crucial to that.
