Tennessee basketball: 5 players to watch in the 2019 SEC Tournament
Another team that the Vols would only see on Saturday, the Ole Miss Rebels could make a run with the help of junior guard, Breein Tyree.
Tyree is without a doubt the most improved players from the SEC this season. He saw around 25 minutes of action per game scoring around 11 points per game. His field goal percentage was under 40 percent, three-point percentage around 35 percent and only made 70 percent of his free throw attempts.
This season under first-year head coach Kermit Davis, Tyree has balled out.
He’s scoring 18.5 points per game which is second best in the SEC only behind Grant Williams. Tyree has also improved his field goal percentage (47.6), three-point percentage (39.8), and free throw shooting percentage (83.1).
Ole Miss was picked to finished last in the preseason SEC standings, and while they lost three of their last five games by a combined seven points, the season was a success. As the sixth seed in the SEC Tournament, they have to get by Alabama on Thursday night and take down Kentucky on Friday.
The Rebels lost to both teams in the regular season but could have easily beat Kentucky, Maybe should have beaten Kentucky. Like Alabama, if Ole Miss can get to Saturday, they will have a good opportunity to be SEC Champions.
