Tennessee basketball: A look at the Vols road to the Final Four
No.4 Kansas State Wildcats (25-8)
Manhattan, KS – Big 12 Conference
Head coach: Bruce Weber
Kansas State has been solid all season long. Only twice did they lose back-to-back games which came against Marquette-Tulsa and Texas-Texas Tech. Again, getting to the Elite 8 will be a difficult task for the Wildcats, but we saw a magically run from them last season. Maybe we could see another one this year.
Best win
The best win(s) came against either Texas Tech or Kansas. The Jayhawks haven’t been healthy in a long time, and Tech struggles to score the basketball at times, like in their game against Kansas State.
State held Tech to just 45 points on 21.7 percent shooting from the three-point line. But, a win is a win, and it looks good on the ole resume.
Worst loss
Without a doubt, the worst loss came against Texas A&M in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. Somehow the Aggies pulled out a 12-point win one 17-for-29 from the field and 8-for-20 from the three-point line.
Longest streak
The Wildcats started the season 6-0 with no wins over any good teams. They had another streak of five wins over Iowa State, Oklahoma, and Tech Tech.
What they do best
Kansas State is a tough bunch defensively. They rank 4th in adjusted defensive efficiency with a rating of 87.7. The only teams better defensive according to the numbers are Texas Tech, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
