Tennessee basketball: A look at the Vols road to the Final Four
No.3 Purdue Boilermakers (23-9)
West Lafayette, IN – Big Ten Conference
Head coach: Matt Painter
According to the committee, the Big Ten was the best conference in the country. They received a nation-high eight bids to the big dance, and three of the teams including Purdue received a three seed or higher.
The matchup between Tennessee and Purdue would happen in the Sweet 16 for a chance at an Elite Eight.
Best win
You have to think the best win came on January 27th against the Michigan State Spartans. The Boilermakers shot 42.9 percent from the three-point line and had five players in double figures in the ten point win.
Worst loss
I want to say Minnesota because they beat Purdue two of the three times they played each other, but it has to be Texas or Notre Dame. Both games were relatively close with a four-point loss and eight-point loss, but inexcusable nonetheless.
Longest streak
After starting 2-2 in conference play, Purdue went on an eight-game win streak that included wins over Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan State, and Minnesota.
What they do best
It appears like the committee put all the most efficient offenses in the nation in the same bracket. Purdue ranks 5th in the country in adjusted offensive efficiency. They also shoot the three-ball around 37 percent per game.
