No.3 – Phil Booth, Villanova

The defending National Champions are back, and of course, they find their way in Tennessee’s region. To be fair, Nova isn’t as good this season, but they could break a lot of brackets.

We mentioned this in our road to the Final Four for the Vols; Villanova ranks 16th in the nation with an adjusted efficiency rating of 117.0. They don’t necessarily do anything spectacular; they do a lot of stuff good. The Wildcats shoot the three-point ball at 35.3 percent and 53.9 percent from inside the arc.

Where does Phil Booth fit into those number?

Booth has played exceptionally well this season leading the Wildcats scoring 18.6 points per game while shooting 43.3 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from the three-point line.

Booth had a season-high 29 points on 11-for-21 from the floor, including 4-for-11 from deep in the three-point loss to Kansas in December.

Booth also has the experience that can do a lot of damage in tournament settings. Nova went on a little run winning three games in three days finishing off a Big East Championship with a 74-72 win over Seton Hall.

Don’t be surprised to see Villanova and Booth to make a run and bust a lot of brackets. However, if there ends up being a Villanova-Tennessee matchup, you have to like the Vols chances.
