No.4 – LSU Tigers (28-6)

Head coach: Will Wade (technically)
Southeastern Conference

Maybe I just love the SEC. I mean it would be rather impressive if three or four different SEC squads made the Elite Eight. But, I don’t think LSU can win a National Championship, at least I don’t believe they can beat Tennessee in a National Championship Game.

Is LSU a good team? Yes. In fact, they are one of the most athletic teams in the entire nation. And, so far not having a coach didn’t hurt them against Yale. However, it did against Maryland and almost cost them the game.

With 16 minutes to go in the game, LSU was up 44-31 when Maryland went to a zone defense that completely changed the game. The Terps came storming back and cut the lead into a single possession.

Why should Vol fans root for LSU? Remember the game in Baton Rouge? Despite the officials taking over the game, Tennessee should have won. Now, to be fair, LSU didn’t have Tremont Waters but still, you have to like the Vols’ chances on a neutral court.

LSU winning also puts Michigan State and Duke out tournament which only helps the Vols if they were able to make the National Championship Game.
