Rick Barnes to help Tristan Thompson, Khloe Kardashian reunite in reality show
Tennessee basketball head coach Rick Barnes is helping out his former Texas standout Tristan Thompson reunite with Khloe Kardashian in a new reality show.
With Tennessee basketball’s season coming to an end, Vols head coach Rick Barnes has time to spend the offseason helping out one of his former players from his days with the Texas Longhorns. He will be starring in a reality show with Tristan Thompson and Khloe Kardashian to help them reunite.
In a show entitled “Rick Barnes keeps up with the Kardashians,” Barnes will be mediating weekly counseling sessions between Thompson and Kardashian. Each session will be a show, and Barnes will try to get them to reconnect after a bitter separation.
Thompson, who played for Barnes in 2010-2011 and has spent his entire NBA career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, has a daughter with Kardashian who is turning a year old this month. However, he has been caught in multiple cheating incidents, most notably in February with Kardashian’s younger half-sister Kylie Jenner’s best friend, Jordyn Woods.
The two have been separated since then, but Rick Barnes has been working behind the scenes to bring them back together. The Vols head coach has always taken pride in caring about his former players and said his work on this reality show would be more important than his Tennessee job. He added that being able to star in a reality show was always his ultimate dream, beyond being a successful basketball coach.
“This is the greatest moment of my career, surpassing any wins and losses,” he said. “Starring in a documentary like this combines my two favorite loves: helping out former players and getting to be on a show with a Kardashian.”
Rick Barnes said he’s a longtime fan of the show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and has done his best to stay up to date on the news surrounding every member of the family. He followed Thompson’s relationship with Kardashian intently and said he felt responsible for the mistakes Thompson made. That’s why he began working to reunite them.
Kardashian’s mother, Kris Jenner, suggested that Kardashian and Thompson have televised sessions with Barnes. She pitched the idea for the show to the ESPN network, and it will air on ESPNU for 10 episodes. However, Rick Barnes said the sessions could go longer than the show itself, even if it cuts into his Tennessee job next year.
“Winning basketball games doesn’t take precedence over the well-being of any of my former players,” he said. “If I have to quit my job coaching the Vols to make this right, so be it. My ultimate goal is to make Tristan Thompson a better man and to assure he has a happy life.”
The first episode will air tonight, April 1st. And in case you haven’t figured it out yet, this is one big April Fool’s joke. Barnes isn’t going anywhere, and he’s not about to star in any reality television show. Happy April Fool’s Day!
