No.5 – Kentucky Wildcats

March 2, 2019 – Knoxville, Tennessee

We begin the slideshow with the 71-52 win over the Kentucky Wildcats in Thompson-Boling Arena. This was the second matchup of the season between the two teams, and it was a revenge game of sorts for the Vols.

Tennessee came out flat in the first matchup in Lexington, or should I say the officials allowed Kentucky to play football which eventually became something the Vols couldn’t overcome.

But, it was a different story in Knoxville. Tennessee was ready, and so was Volnation. I have to give credit to the crowd, it was fantastic, and it helped the Vols get out to a strong start.

Tennessee controlled the entire game thanks to a career-high performance from Jordan Bone. The junior guard was spectacular shooting 11-for-15 from the floor, including a perfect 5-for-5 from the three-point line. It seemed like Bone loved playing Kentucky this season; it was his game to show out.

After a 6-0 start from the Cats, Grant Williams helped lead the charge for the Vols. The back-to-back SEC Player of the Year scored 24 points on 7-for-13 from the floor, including 2-for-4 from deep.

There was a lot of chatter leading into the game that Williams was scared of Kentucky’s P.J. Washington. As I think you can see from the numbers, he wasn’t.  If you were wondering, Washington scored 13 points and had four turnovers.
