No.4 – Florida Gators

January 12, 2019 – Gainesville, Florida

You might be thinking I’ve already got this ranking all wrong. How is Florida, who barely received a bid in the NCAA Tournmanet, the fourth best win of the season? Well, it’s because it was the Vols first big road game.

Now some will argue that Memphis was a good road test, and sure, it was. But, it wasn’t more significant or more impressive than the win in Gainesville. It was Tennessee-Florida, and the Vols were 13-1 on the season.

Gators’ Noah Locke made two free throws to cut the Tennessee lead down to two points with 1:25 left in the game. That’s right the eleven point win is a bit deceiving. Florida hung tough all game, but after a corner three from Admiral Schofield, which was assisted by Grant Williams, the game was over.

Williams led the Vols with 20 points on 8-for-11 from the floor, including 3-for-4 from the free throw line. And, as good as Williams was, Jordan Bowden was the key to the win. Off the bench, Bowden scored 17 points on 5-for-11 from the floor and nearly went perfect from the free throw line.

The win gave Tennessee their third conference win of the season and kept, at the time, the 10-game win streak rolling.
