Tennessee basketball head coach Rick Barnes is drawing interest from the UCLA Bruins. These 10 factors will determine if he leaves the Volunteers.

It’s as if Tennessee basketball can’t ever find stability. When a coach isn’t getting fired for failing to win games, he’s getting fired for an NCAA violation or being a PR disaster. But they thought they had stability with Rick Barnes.

That, of course, was before the news broke Sunday night that he was emerging as a serious candidate to become the new UCLA Bruins head coach and the fact that the interest appeared to be mutual. All of a sudden, the Vols could be worried about another search.

Phillip Fulmer already has the impossible task of finding a new head coach to replace the second most legendary Tennessee Lady Vol ever because she did not live up to the expectations of the women’s basketball program. The last thing he wants to be doing is searching for a coach on the men’s side when Rick Barnes had appeared to bring stability.

But what about Barnes himself? Well, if UCLA is calling, there are many reasons for him to take the job. There are also many reasons, though, for him to avoid taking the job. It’s truly something that’s completely up in the air.

Vol Twitter has already found a way to put every factor into play, and there are quite a few that could shape Barnes’s decision. In this post, we’re going to rank those factors that will determine if he stays or if he goes.

Some will favor the Vols, some will favor UCLA, and some will be a complete wash. There are a couple, as well, that we don’t know which team is favored because it will depend on what Barnes himself prefers.

All of this is going to be debated until a decision is made. So should Rick Barnes stay or should he go? Tennessee basketball or UCLA? These are the 10 factors that have come into play as to whether or not Barnes leaves the Vols for the Bruins.
