No.1 – Grant Williams

MVP

Finally, we come to the last slide in our post which is the MVP award. And, of course, the award goes to Grant Williams. There is really no argument, right?

Truthfully, Williams deserves all the praise anyone wants to give. The back-to-back SEC Player of the Year was that good in his junior season. And, if it wasn’t for Zion Williamson, he might have won Player of the Year for the entire country. If Williamson never came back from the blown shoe injury, I’m convinced Williams would have won the award.

Of course, he had help, but Williams was the go-to. He drew a lot of attention from opposing teams and when he was too much to handle the double teams came, but even that wasn’t enough to stop him.

Tennessee played in 37 games this season and Williams scored in double figures 34 times. 34! One of his best games came against Vanderbilt in Nashville as the Vols took on the Commodores as the No.1 team in the nation. Williams scored 43pointst that game going a perfect 23-for-23 from the free throw line.

Without Williams, who knows what this Tennessee season would have looked like. It will be interesting to see what Williams does with the NBA Draft upcoming.
