No.4 – Lamonte got his swagger back vs. Kentucky

“I’ve got my swagger back.”

That’s what Lamonte Turner was screaming as he was running back to the locker room after the win against the Kentucky Wildcats in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament. And, Turner was right, he got his swagger back.

In the previous six games leading into the matchup with the Cats, Turner shot just 3-for-27, 11 percent from deep. In fact, he struggled most of the season. The shoulder injury was affecting him more than most people thought it would.

Tennessee had four losses heading into the SEC Tournament where Turner shot 4-for-31 from the three-point line, just 12.9 percent.

This is where I took a lot of hate from fans. I said Lamonte was struggling with his shot because he was forcing it instead of letting it come to him. After knocking down the big-time shot against the Cats, he did indeed get his swagger back.

In the four games following the 82-78 win over Kentucky, Turner shot 46.1 percent from deep which was better than his 42.5 percent during SEC play.

The second with just seconds remaining in the game was a dagger that since the Wildcats packing. What made it even more special was it was the second year in row Turner hurt Big Blue Nation.
