No.1 – Being No.1 for the second time in program history

The moment of being ranked No.1 in the nation lasted over a month, but it’s hands down the best moment of the 2018-19 season.

For just the second time in program history, Tennessee basketball was at the top of the mountain named college hoops. There they were flying the Tennessee flag loud and proud while every other team was fighting to knock them off.

The Vols took their No.1 ranking to Nashville on Wednesday, January 23rd. In a close five-point game, the Commodores about pulled the same upset that they did in the 2007-08 season. But, a win is a win, and the Vols kept the win streak rolling for quite a while.

During the win streak, Tennessee put down West Virginia, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Missouri, Florida, and South Carolina for the second time.

In the end, being ranked No.1 in the country means nothing if you don’t have anything to show for it. The Vols didn’t win an SEC Regular Season Championship or the SEC Tournament Championship. And, they didn’t even make it out of the Sweet 16. However, reaching the No.1 ranking should still be celebrated and remembered as the best memory of the season.
