No.1 – Coaching, in-game stuff

If you want to flirt around with other programs (which is okay) to get more money out of your current employer that’s fine. However, win you lose or make horrible in-game coaching decisions (which he does), prepare for the backlash.

Barnes wants to be paid like he’s an elite coach, now he has to prove he is an elite coach. Beating Kentucky is great. In fact, the Vols have beaten the Wildcats four times in the past six games. But, is that enough? Are fans really okay with beating Kentucky and end getting bounced in the Sweet 16?

Ask Duke fans if they are happy with beating Virginia twice in the regular season, yet watching them cut down the nets in the last game of the season.

I caught a lot of heat for pointing out Barnes and his in-game flaws against Purdue. Obviously, everyone wants to point to the foul on Lamonte Turner for the reason the Vols lost. But, it could have been much different.

No, I’m not a coach. I only point that out because that will be the number one argument from people that want to argue this take with me. However, I do watch a lot of basketball, and Barnes could limit a lot of big runs by getting Grant Williams an easy look.

Barnes is a very player dependant coach, and that’s okay. But, at the end of the day, he is the coach making the big bucks. Fans expect players to make plays; they should expect coaches to do the same.
