We’re back to the offensive line. Wanya Morris is the prized recruit. K’Rojhn Calbert is the guy people are waiting on to take the next step. And we’ve already mentioned the incoming players this summer, the returning starters and the guys working to get healthy.

But beyond all of them, there’s Jerome Carvin. He’s a bit of both, having started some games last year and seen a solid bit of experience while also being a highly touted recruit. Tennessee football needs to see him take the next step. The first step is Saturday’s Orange and White game, where he can live up to his once four-star hype.

Carvin was another one of the guys Jeremy Pruitt singled out as somebody who was playing well this spring. That makes the spring game itself certainly worth paying attention to, and he’s one fo the linemen you’re going to want to watch.

Yes, offensive linemen are the most boring players to keep an eye on. But if you saw how bad the Vols were at the position last year, you know it’s where people need to pay attention. Carvin is one of the rising players looking to be able to become an anchor of the line. Saturday’s game will show how far the second-year player has come to be able to do that.
