It’s no secret that Tennessee football needs immediate help on the offensive line after how bad the play was last year. Some of that is coming in the form of recruiting, as the Vols secured a historically great class led by five-star Darnell Wright.

It’s also coming in the form of returning guys getting healthy like Brandon Kennedy, who suffered a season-ending injury in last year’s opener, really setting the unit back. And maybe even Trey Smith will get healthy. All of these things could make the line significantly better.

But the final bit of it comes from returning players developing. And that’s where K’Rojhn Calbert comes in. Guys like Marcus Tatum, Nathan Niehaus and Ryan Johnson have already shown us enough to prove what they can do. Calbert, however, was a reserve guy last year coming off a redshirt. He played in the rotation, but this is the year for him to make a surge.

Jeremy Pruitt touted Calbert’s development this spring, so that’s something that is worth paying attention to when the spring game kicks off. A big step from him could be a big step from the line. Because he was touted specifically, and due to the need of the line, he’s on the list.
