The Arizona Cardinals was one of the worst teams in the NFL last season. After drafting Josh Rosen last year, the Cardinals could use a body at every position. One of their biggest needs is the offensive line to protect Rosen from running for his life on every snap, but the defense has to improve as well.

The Cardinals ranked 20th in total defense giving up 26.6 points per game and about 358.8 yards. The passing defense was stellar ranking 4th in the league. Arizona only allowed opposing teams to pass for 204 yards per game and only gave up 21 passing touchdowns. However, the rushing defense was pathetic. The Cardinals ranked last in the league giving up 154.9 rushing yards to opponents for a 4.9 yards per attempt average.

What defensive ends are on the Cardinals roster?

Cameron Malveaux (Houston), Robert Nikemdiche (Ole Miss), Darius Philon (Arkansas), and Pasoni Tasini (Utah) are the only defensive ends listed on the current roster.

Don’t be surprised if Arizona ends up taking defensive end Nick Bosa from Ohio State with the No.1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Even still, I would expect Cardinals to add more help having three picks in the seventh round.

What picks do the Cardinals have?

Round 6: No. 174, No. 179 (from Buccaneers)

Round 7: No. 248, No. 249, No. 254

With three picks in the seventh round, it wouldn’t surprise us if Arizona added Phillips to a struggling defensive line. So far Nikemdiche hasn’t lived up to expectations; adding another body couldn’t hurt.
