Tennessee football’s 2019 spring practice is in the books. Here are the 10 Volunteers who were the biggest winners from March and April.

With spring practice over, Tennessee football won’t take the field for practice again as a full team until August. At that point, their whole team will be back, including their newcomers from the 2019 recruiting class who weren’t early enrollees and guys who are healthy again.

That will give us a better impression of where the Vols stand before their season opener against the Georgia State Panthers on Aug. 31. However, while we were consumed with basketball for a lot of this year’s spring practice, there were quite a few notable things that happened.

Specific players were touted by the coaches, and some stood out in the spring game. Given the state of the roster and the pending position battles, Tennessee football’s spring was good news for a lot of players on the field.

Although spring practice isn’t the end all be all, guys looking to hold onto starting jobs or take one can definitely get a huge advantage during that time. And despite lots of returning talent, plenty of spots are open for starters. So players at risk of losing a spot or trying to prove something needed to step up.

In this post, we’re going to rank the 10 biggest winners from spring practice. This will look at who benefitted the most from it and what it means going forward. We have a range of criteria for breaking down our ranking.

That criteria includes what type of praise the player got throughout the spring, the necessity for him to have a good spring and his performance in the spring game. Yes, the spring game, while not the end all be all, is a solid determinant for how somebody can perform under the lights.
