Tennessee football had many things to address heading into Jeremy Pruitt’s second spring practice. Here are the Volunteers’ five most encouraging signs.

After a 5-7 season, Tennessee football has many concerning things surrounding it as a program heading into Jeremy Pruitt’s second season. There’s no away around those issues, which we’ve discussed at length so far this offseason.

However, recruiting, development and obviously practice are all reasons for positivity about this team heading into the future. We won’t know what we will see from the Vols until the season starts, but there have been some encouraging signs.

Spring practice is always a way to gather a bit of information about a program. It was no different for Tennessee football this year. Although there were some bad things to gather, the Vols gave us some good news about themselves as a program as well.

Throughout spring ball, based on what the coaches were saying and what we saw in the spring game, we could gather a few good things happening with the Vols. Whether or not that translates to the field this year remains to be seen, and they still have a long way to go.

But spring helped alleviate a few concerns, and it also provided some reasons for excitement. These are just a few more points that suggest a better season overall is on the horizon. In this post, we’re going to break down those things and what we saw to give us reason for that.

Now, these positives aren’t set in stone. And plenty of concerns have not been alleviated. But you can use these points to feel a sense of relief compared to where the program was before those 15 practices began.

So let’s go ahead and break down what we’re talking about. It’s time for a bit more positivity surrounding the Vols. These are five encouraging signs for Tennessee football that were revealed during spring practice.
