Honorable mentions

Alexis Johnson, Defensive Tackle

Despite not having the best of career’s with the Vols, Johnson developed into a playmaker last season. But, he has a big frame at 6-foot-3, 314-pounds that can help plug the middle. Johnson is another player both Caleb Calhoun, and I see going to the Atlanta Falcons.

Micah Abernathy, Safety

Micah Abernathy was the type of player that was solid for the Vols his whole career. One thing you could say about Abernathy was he was smart on the football field. He knew where to be at all times.

He had an impressive pro day running a sub-4.5 40 which was among the top from the safety position during the combine. Pair that with Abernathy’s effort, and he will surely have a chance to play on Sundays, and in the right system, he could be the next Justin Coleman.

Quart’e Sapp, Linebacker

Quart’e Sapp leaving early doesn’t make much sense. He only appeared in six games last season and total just 29 tackles. It probably would have served him better to leave after his redshirt sophomore season when he played in 11 games. That season he registered 75 tackles, including 42 solos.
