2005 NFL Draft. Dustin Colquitt. player. 124. Pick Analysis. Round: 3 / Pick: 99. 7. Scouting Report

Technically he wasn’t a first-rounder, but that doesn’t necessarily mean Dustin Colquitt overachieved. Arguably Tennessee football’s greatest punter ever, he met the expectations that come with his draft position.

How often does a punter go in the third round of the NFL Draft? That is a testament to how great Colquitt was on Rocky Top, and he was indeed great. We’re talking about a guy who single-handedly delivered the Vols wins over the South Carolina Gamecocks and Miami Hurricanes in 2003.

The Kansas City Chiefs saw how valuable he was as a punter and took a chance on him high in the draft. However, amidst all of this, Colquitt is still technically not a first rounder. And even for a punter, he has delivered like one. After 14 years in Kansas City, Colquitt has made two Pro Bowl appearances and has been a major model of consistency.

The guy averages 45 yards a punt for his career and once booted an 81-yarder. He started the tradition of the Vols being Punter U this decade, and he’s been the best punter from Rocky Top as well, which is why we can put him on this list. Colquitt is a rare punter who has major impacts on games.
