After 592 receiving yards last year and 406 the year before, nobody has been a more consistent producer for Tennessee football in the passing game the past two seasons than Marquez Callaway. Playing through two different systems and two horrendous offenses, he has still managed seven touchdowns.

Now, as he enters his senior season, Callaway has proven himself to be the best receiver with the ball in his hands. And he’s also shown himself to be able to make the most spectacular plays overall, which sets him up for lots of success this season.

Jim Chaney proved with Cordarrelle Patterson that he loves receivers who make plays with the ball in their hands. Callaway doesn’t have Patterson’s level of shiftiness, but what he lacks in that he makes up for in hands and route-running.

As a result, he is definitely set to be one of the go-to wideouts in Chaney’s system at 6’2″ 199 pounds. And with more targets in an improved offense, he’s likely to make a lot more plays. That will have NFL scouts calling, and he’ll have a great chance at being selected in next year’s draft. But what happens with him depends on how much the offense improves overall.
