One area where Tennessee football needs immediate help this year is on the offensive line. Trey Smith’s medical issues, the transfer of Drew Richmond and the retirements of Chance Hall, Tanner Antonutti and Devante Brooks leave a line that was already historically bad last year desperate for more help.

Jeremy Pruitt went out and sought immediate help on the recruiting trail, and Wanya Morris was one of his key pickups. A four-star on Rivals, Morris was a five-star across many services, and an injury kept him from being a unanimous five-star.

However, he was fully healthy by the spring. And all he did at that point was earn a starting spot on the first-team offense in the spring game, something that shocked everybody. That raw talent and now experience in the system as an early enrollee gives him a chance to become a star this year.

At 6’4″ 309 pounds, playing for Will Friend was already going to be a plus. But new offensive coordinator Jim Chaney is first and foremost an offensive line coach, and linemen excel in his system. This will all give Morris a chance to shine, and with his size and raw talent, he will definitely have the ability to leave early if he can. The XFL, once again, will be a great spot.
