Honorable Mentions

K’Rojhn Calbert

Offensive Lineman; Redshirt Sophomore

Of all the rising offensive linemen specifically mentioned by the Tennessee football coaches this year, K’Rojhn Calbert got a specific shoutout. So he could draw some headlines this year as a player. His first step, though, is working his way into the rotation with Ryan Johnson, Jahmir Johnson and Brandon Kennedy already in there on the inside.

Theo Jackson

Defensive Back; Junior

With Baylen Buchanan at nickel, Nigel Warrior at strong safety and Bryce Thompson and Alontae Taylor at cornerback, one more spot was open in the Vols’ secondary. Theo Jackson couldn’t move ahead of Trevon Flowers, but he still has a ton of talent and potential working with the first team. So he’ll be in the rotation, and that could be enough to get recognized playing for Derrick Ansley.

Aubrey Solomon

Defensive Tackle; Junior

Aubrey Solomon joins Matthew Butler and Emmit Gooden as a favorite to start at defensive tackle, but the Michigan Wolverines transfer first has to become eligible to play. That question makes him an honorable mention. Unlike Trey Smith, he hasn’t proven enough to become a draft pick without playing this year. If he does, though, his talent will help him get noticed.

Marcus Tatum

Offensive Lineman; Redshirt Junior

Marcus Tatum is another offensive lineman who could gain recognition this year with significant playing time. But the redshirt junior is already competing with Wanya Morris at tackle. And Trey Smith could get healthy as well. Once you add in the summer arrival of Darnell Wright, Tatum could fall out of the starting rotation. That’ll hurt his chances to leave early for the pros.

Savion Williams

Defensive Tackle; Junior

If Aubrey Solomon isn’t eligible to play, Savion Williams will likely start in that role. He was a four-star junior college transfer and the nation’s top JuCo defensive tackle this past year. As a result, he could thrive for Tennessee football this season. Should that happen, he, like Butler, could become an NFL prospect as well if the line comes together. But starting for him is still in question.
