Tennessee football received some good news on Monday afternoon with the commit of Art Green, a cornerback from the 2020 class.

Just a few short hours after four-star offensive lineman Tate Ratledge announced that he was committing to Georgia over Tennessee, the Vols received word that Art Green was going to be a Volunteer.

Green isn’t rated on 247Sports yet but is expected to be one of the highest rated cornerbacks in the nation, which makes sense because he was highly sought after. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound cornerback had offers from multiple SEC schools Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Texas A&M.

It’s been a trend lately, but Tennessee football was the first university to get Green a recruiting visit as a junior-college prospect. It didn’t take long for Green to make his decision to play for Pruitt and company.

In a limited role appearing in just eight games, Green recorded 19 tackles but had six interceptions. Adding a guy like Green moves Tennessee one step closer to having one of the best secondaries in the nation.

Green joins Alontae Taylor and Bryce Thompson, two guys who were four-star prospects in the 2018 recruiting class. In 2019, the Vols added four-star Tyus Fields and three-star Warren Burrell, along with safety Jaylen McCollough.

At 6-foot-2, Green has the size and length to be excellent in coverage. And, being a bit more polished as a JUCO transfer, he should have the opportunity to make an immediate impact. His highlights show he is phenomenal in coverage and attacks the ball down the field.

Just as Vol fans start to rumble and grumble about Pruitt’s recruiting abilities, his program comes through with a great commit. We mentioned this in an earlier post, but the 2020 recruiting class is ranked 30th in the country. However, that is subject to change due to Green earning his star ranking.
