Tennessee basketball junior Jordan Bone still has his name in the NBA Draft. At the combine, the Volunteers junior showed off his insane athleticism.

After one day at the NBA Combine, Tennessee basketball fans might as well accept that Jordan Bone isn’t coming back. Well, it would be a major shocker if he did given the athleticism he showed Thursday afternoon.

Bone took the lead in the vertical leap and in sprints, according to reports on Twitter. And his numbers weren’t just impressive when compared against other guards looking to enter the NBA Draft this year either.

Louis Fernandez Jr. of WBIR tweeted that Bone’s 3.03-second 3/4 court sprint and his 42.5 inch vertical were both higher than those of Derrick Rose or Russell Westbrook. So, simply put, he’s got explosive athleticism.

We knew Bone was athletic, but until this combine, it was hard to know just how much. The athleticism he displayed on Thursday along with his 6’3″ frame give him all the physical tools to be a valuable NBA guard.

But it gets better. Bone has a significantly better three-point shooting percentage his and free throw percentage his most recent college year than those two did. And he averaged more assists and fewer turnovers.

So, by every measurable possible for the NBA Draft, Bone looks better coming out of college than either of them. After the combine, there is no reason for him to return to Tennessee basketball for another season.

You could make the case for Grant Williams maybe working on his three-point shot. Admiral Schofield and Kyle Alexander don’t have any choice. But Bone is one guy who could return but has absolutely no reason to.

The guy was always considered the most NBA ready of anybody on the Vols, and the NBA Combine has just proven it. Add in the fact that Bone clearly demonstrated solid intangibles and a certain level of unselfishness, and there’s no reason for NBA scouts to turn against him. He’s just too good of a prospect now.
