Grant Williams stat line: 25 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, 3 steals

While Lipscomb was his breakout game for efficiency buckets, Grant Williams was already refined when Tennessee basketball had an easy game against Tennessee Tech in late December of this past year. The program was already at its peak under his leadership.

But in the final non-conference game of the season, Williams put on another clinic of efficiency that forced us to put this on the list. Scoring 25 points and grabbing 7 rebounds alone wouldn’t usually make it against a team of Tennessee Tech’s caliber.

In this game, though, Williams scored on 10-of-11 buckets. That was good for 91 percent from the field. 91 percent! For good measure, he went 5-of-6 from the free throw line. So he shot 83.3 percent on free throws but still managed to shoot better from the field. That’s insane.

Such historic efficiency forced us to put this game on the list. And adding 7 rebounds keeps it up as a solid performance. The efficient scoring, though, stood out over the rebounds. You always have to put a great game on the list when a guy hits double figures and shoots over 90 percent.

Williams was effective in other ways too, though. Having multiple assists, blocks and steals made this a very complete performance to go along with his efficiency. And he did it in only 25 minutes of play, so it’s scary how elite he could have been in this game.
