Grant Williams stat line: 22 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal

It’s one thing to put up double-doubles and be extremely efficient when facing Group of Five and FCS opponents in non-conference play. However, it means something totally different when you do it on the road against an SEC opponent.

Grant Williams did that for Tennessee basketball this past year as they faced the Texas A&M Aggies on the road. At this point, the Vols were rolling through the SEC season and ranked No. 1 in the nation. A&M, meanwhile, was struggling.

So Williams went to College Station and had one of his usual elite games. Although he only scored 22 points, it was on 9-of-12 shooting from the field. So he shot an amazing 75 percent. On top of that, he went 4-of-4, a perfect 100 percent from the free throw line. Simply put, Williams scored in all the right ways.

But he also got involved in other aspects of the game. Obviously, adding 10 rebounds makes this a double-double for Williams. So a double-double with such efficient shooting in a road SEC environment already makes this a great performance.

Add in Williams’ four assists, two blocks and a steal, and he clearly filled the stats sheet. It was enough to make the top 5. He nearly had a 20-10-5 performance, coming just one assist short. It was still good enough to be this high on the list.
