In one year, Roman Harrison could be in the rotation for outside linebacker. He is likely to become a starter in two years. The guy is a four-star commitment who has the potential to replace Darrell Taylor and burst onto the scene as a superstar.
But for right now, Tennessee football is likely to only limit his action. Taylor, a senior, is one clear-cut starter at outside linebacker. The other is still a competition between junior Deandre Johnson, junior Jordan Allen and sophomore Kivon Bennett. That rotation alone makes it hard for Harrison to break his way in this year.
The good news for him, however, is the fact that he does somewhat have the potential to do just that. Consider the fact that while all of those guys were solid and while Johnson is the favorite to start, none of them have emerged as the leading candidate.
That combined with Harrison’s talent puts him in this tier. The 6’2″ 245-pound prospect is in decent position to make his way into the rotation somewhere, so watch out for what he may be able to do early on. What’s clear, though, is if it doesn’t work out this year, it will almost certainly work out in the short-term future.
