Two Lady Volunteers involved in the 2019 Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Induction ceremony leads our Tennessee Vols news for Monday, June 10, 2019.

Welcome to our second Monday in June covering the Tennessee Vols. News is finally beginning to slow down, as one more postseason was wrapped up over the weekend, meaning it’s time to get into summer coverage.

Our morning update on Rocky Top leads with the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame induction from Saturday night. To nobody’s surprise, players connected to UT were among the inductees, which makes it relevant.

We also have transfer news surrounding a softball player along with a recap of the one postseason sport that occurred for the Tennessee Vols over the weekend. So we’ve got a lot to cover from the weekend mostly on the women’s side. Let’s start with the Hall of Fame.

Two Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Inductees have UT ties – WATE

The 2019 Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame induction Saturday night included two players with connections to the Lady Vols. University of Tennessee Athletics Director Emeritus Joan Cronan and former graduate assistant Beth Bass were among seven women inducted at the Tennessee Theatre. In an emotional moment, recently fired women’s basketball head coach Holly Warlick also made a public appearance at the event.

"Members of the Class of 2019 include Bass, Cronan, Nora Lynn Finch, Ticha Penicheiro, Ruth Riley, Carolyn Bush Roddy and Valerie Still. They were awarded their coveted Eastman Trophy and Baron Championship induction rings.Cronan was the highly-respected, long-time women’s athletics director at Tennessee before her retirement, while Bass began her career as a graduate assistant in the UT women’s athletics department."

Caylan Arnold transfers to Florida State – Grant Ramey, GoVols247

After making it known that she would be transferring from the Tennessee Lady Vols softball program last week, pitcher Caylan Arnold’s transfer destination has been revealed. She will join the Florida State Seminoles according to the program’s Twitter account.

"In three seasons at Tennessee, Arnold, a Maryville, Tenn., native, had a career earned run average of 2.15, going 57-23 in 117 appearances, pitching 475 2/3 innings.…Arnold had an 11-8 record this season, starting 21 games while pitching 102 innings. She gave up 38 runs — 33 earned — on 83 hits, recording 102 strikeouts while allowing just 39 walks."

Two more Vols named track and field All-AmericansUTSports.com

Tennessee Vols track and field triple jumpers Alonie Sutton and LaChyna Roe earned second-team All-American honors Saturday night at the NCAA Championships. Sutton finished 9th place and Roe finished 10th placed in the triple jump competition. That day wrapped up the championships overall.

"Arkansas took home the team national title on the women’s side with 64 points, followed by USC (57) and LSU (43) to round out the top three. The Lady Vols came away with one point for the meet as Stamatia Scarvelis placed eighth in the hammer throw."
