Tennessee basketball: Ranking Vols by landing spots following 2019 NBA Draft
Jordan Bone stole the show with his epic draft party reaction that made the rounds on Twitter over the weekend. He was the last Tennessee basketball player taken in the draft and went No. 57 overall, eventually landing with the Detroit Pistons after a series of trades.
When you look at his physical abilities, Bone probably has the most pro potential of any former Vol. He clocked in better speed and verticals than superstar point guard athletes like Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook did coming out of college.
Meanwhile, Bone is a better shooter and distributor than both of them, and he developed under Rick Barnes. So he has a huge advantage. However, his ability to succeed will be much more dependent on his talent than where he went. He had the worst landing spot on this list.
Bone was more of a steal for the Pistons than anything. Although they need a true point guard, they’re sticking with Reggie Jackson right now. So Bone will have to prove that he can play the position and give Detroit an incentive not to try to re-sign Jackson after next year. That’s a tall task for a rookie, but Bone is more cut out for it than most people would be.
