Tennessee football is riding a hot streak in recruiting with five commits in June. Five-star WR and LSU commit, Rakim Jarrett was in Knoxville over the weekend.

I don’t think Jeremy Pruitt and the Tennessee football are done making noise on the recruiting trail just yet. This is the second year in a row where fans have lost their minds about recruiting rankings in May/June, and it will be the second straight year it was all for nothing.

Over the weekend, five-star wide receiver and LSU commit, Rakim Jarrett was in town along with Harrison Bailey, Cooper Mays, and a handful of other players. Jarrett is not just one of the best receivers in the nation, but one of the best all-around players.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Jarrett is the 19th overall recruit in the nation, 3rd wide receiver, and the 2nd highest-rated prospect from the DC area. Jarrett’s 0.9920 rankings put him around former Tennessee players Da’Rick Rogers and Kevin Simon. More recently, Trey Smith was ranked with a 0.9920 ranking as well.

Jarrett isn’t the tallest receiver, but he does have a good frame and blazing speed. What makes him really tough to guard is his ability to stop and start. And, speaking of the nice frame, even with the elite speed, Jarrett is very physical.

The one knock could be his blocking inability. However, I believe that will come once he makes his way onto a college campus and is adequately taught the techniques.

One thing that bodes well for the Vols is it appears that Jarrett and Tennessee commit, Harrison Bailey are boys. Bailey came on an unofficial visit this past weekend, and many believe it’s because Rakim was going to be in town.

Although Jarrett is still committed to the LSU Tigers, anything is possible especially when you have guys like Bailey recruiting just as much as the coaches are.
