Other top prospects for Vols at RB

Darvon Hubbard; 3-star

5’11” 211 lbs; Surprise, Ariz.; Willow Canyon High School

Tennessee football is competing with the Purdue Boilermakers and the LSU Tigers to land Darvon Hubbard. He’s a solid pure running back who could develop into something special, but the Vols are the underdog to Purdue right now based on Rivals forecasts for the Arizona prospect.

Ty Jordan; 3-star

5’9″ 190 lbs; Mesquite, Texas; West Mesquite High School

It appears as if the Vols and the USC Trojans are the only ones making a play for Ty Jordan right now, and while USC is the favorite, Tee Martin being in Knoxville and Clay Helton’s hot seat could be a big plus the other way. Anything could happen with Jordan at this point, who would be another solid all-purpose back.

DJ Lundy; 3-star

6’1″ 230 lbs; Ocilla, Ga.; Irwin County High School

UT is competing with the Kentucky Wildcats, South Carolina Gamecocks, Vanderbilt Commodores and Virginia Tech Hokies to land DJ Lundy. He’s technically another athlete but will likely play running back. Right now, there are no favorites to land him. As another power back, he’d have a bit of an uphill climb seeing playing time on Rocky Top, but the Vols are still in the running.

Miles Friday; NR

6’0″ 172 lbs; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Home School

He’s not yet received a ranking yet on Rivals or 247Sports, but UT and UK are the top schools to land him. Likely another all-purpose back, the Vols could use him as a specialist in different ways, and if he puts on weight, he may shoot up the ratings.

Rishard Densmore; 3-star

6’1″ 196 lbs; Bessemer, Ala.; Bessemer City High School

Rishard Densmore is another athlete. He actually could play wide receiver, running back or defensive back in college, and while running back is least likely, it’s still worth having him on this list. The Vols are competing with the UAB Blazers, Nebraska Cornhuskers and Mississippi State Bulldogs to land him, and while there are no favorites yet, the Rivals FanFutureCast already has him likely to go to UT. He’d be a solid pickup as an athlete.

Jimmy Holliday; 3-star

6’1″ 180 lbs; Florda, Miss.; Madison Central High School

Another athlete who could play wide receiver, running back or defensive back, Tennessee football has stiffer competition for Jimmy Holliday. The Vols are in there with the Kansas Jayhawks, TCU Horned Frogs, Ole Miss Rebels and Mississippi State Bulldogs, and all signs point to Ole Miss as the overwhelming favorites. But at least they’re still in contention.
