The men’s golf program did not have near the national success that the women’s golf program had. As a result, women’s golf finishes higher in terms of accomplishments in Tennessee Vols sports for this year.

But the program did finish higher in the SEC, coming in at No. 8. Meanwhile, they managed to get a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Athens Regional. And the peak of the season was the fact that they tied a school record with three tournament championships.

This was all done in Brennan Webb’s first year as leader of the men’s golf program. Given the fact that it was his first year and he walked into a difficult situation, we had no choice but to put him ahead of Judy Pavon.

Again, Pavon is more accomplished and proven overall as a coach. But the circumstances surrounding everything required us to put Webb ahead for this year. He did a better job for the 2018-2019 academic year specifically.

They also have a young team with sophomore Hunter Wolcott leading the way. In fact, none of their top 5 performers at NCAA regionals were seniors, so Webb also worked with youth. Those metrics put him at No. 9 on this list. If he had gotten out of regionals, he would have shot up.
