Jeremy Pruitt speaks, says Baylen Buchanan out – Grant Ramey, GoVols247
Two days after the Tennessee Vols’ first football scrimmage, head coach Jeremy Pruitt spoke with the media about the state of the program. He said that senior defensive back Baylen Buchanan is suffering from a narrowing of the spine and is out indefinitely. Outside linebacker Jordan Allen apparently had a sports hernia that they decided to fix, but he’s not out for the season. Other news includes no emerging leaders on the offensive line, and Warren Burrell and Eric Gray stepping up as freshmen. Here’s a bit of what he said about Buchanan.
"“He has a redshirt, and one thing you’ve got to figure out, right, is this something that he’s had the whole time he’s played, right? Or is this something that just kind of has happened right now. But precautionary, we’ve held him out, and we’re going to continue to do that, because his safety is our first priority.’"
Mike Gundy says Vols offered him three times – Chris Low, ESPN.com
Oklahoma State Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy says he’s been offered the Tennessee Vols football job three times. The most notable one was in 2017, when John Currie turned to him after the Greg Schiano disaster. Here’s a quote from him about the Vols’ offer.
"“It’s ironic that it’s always been Tennessee. I guess it gets to a point where you say, ‘Is it time for me to make a change? I’m 50-something years old. Is it time for me to go do things differently?’ Sometimes in your life, you think that way.Tennessee put together an unbelievable package, and it’s hard to tell somebody no when that happens. But I made the right decision.”"
