Tennessee football got no help in our Week Two SEC Power Rankings. The Volunteers remain at the bottom of the Southeastern Conference.

While Tennessee football continues to embarrass the league, the top of the Southeastern Conference is looking great. And it shows that the gap in our SEC Power Rankings between the top and bottom teams is the size of the Pacific Ocean.

Two weeks into the season, there have been two conference games and three teams who have played top 25 teams outside of the conference. Those things have played a role in helping us determine who belongs where. That’s also true for teams that have suffered some bad losses on the season already.

As we get set to deliver our SEC Power Rankings rankings following Week Two of the season, it’s pretty clear that things can’t get much worse for a few teams, while optimism is at its peak for others. We actually had a pretty easy time separating them out.

Half the league is still undefeated, and for now the top four teams all belong in one tier. The next two are a second tier, and following that is another tier for the next three. Our fourth tier includes three 1-1 schools, followed by our fifth tier, which involves a 1-1 school and an 0-2 school.

Yes, we have five tiers heading into this week’s rankings, and they could decrease or increase on a week-to-week basis. But again, you could not see a bigger gap between the top and the bottom in the SEC in the history of the conference than this year. And that’s insane given the level of talent in the league in years past.

So who is creating that gap? Which teams are taking the league to extreme ends. And who has a lot to look forward to? Find out here as we bring you our SEC Power Rankings following Week Two of the 2019 college football season.
