It was really hard for us to move the Arkansas Razorbacks ahead of the Vanderbilt Commodores in our SEC Power Rankings. After all, despite having a better record, Chad Morris’s team should get absolutely no credit for looking ugly against the Portland State Bison in a win to open the season. They don’t deserve to be here.

But the fact of the matter is Arkansas looked better against the Ole Miss Rebels than Vandy did against the Purdue Boilermakers. And Ole Miss had a better loss than Purdue to a Group of Five school to open the season. Yes, that level of circular logic is why we have this team at No. 12 right now instead of No. 13.

Make no mistake, though. We have no faith in the Hogs going forward. Their next two home games against the Colorado State Rams and San Jose State Spartans will show if they are a decent team or not this year, and they need to win both. After that, they host the Texas A&M Aggies in a sure loss.

Then they visit the Kentucky Wildcats, which could be a huge game if things go right. But for now, we just need to see how they perform at home against two lower-level Group of Five opponents over the next two weeks. A couple of decent wins could result in them moving up our list.
