After an 0-2 start, Tennessee football will be looking for its first win Saturday against the UT Chattanooga Mocs. Here are five Volunteers to watch for.

How does Tennessee football prepare for this one? The Vols are now 0-2 with two horrific losses to start the season, and just before SEC play, they have to find a way to get excited about playing an FCS school.

Now, maybe facing the Chattanooga Mocs will excite them because they actually have a chance to win the game for once. But given how the first two weeks have gone, that’s not a guarantee. Jeremy Pruitt’s team will have to be ready on Saturday.

Obviously, if a loss comes here, then 0-12 becomes a possibility. Right now, it’s still highly unlikely, but Tennessee football can’t afford to blow this one. Otherwise, we’ll be talking about the likelihood of what easily would be the worst season in UT history.

If the Vols are going to make sure that doesn’t happen, they can start by winning the easiest game on their schedule this weekend. Completely collapsing in the second-easiest game on their schedule doesn’t make that a guarantee.

On Saturday, though, there are specific players who can make sure this win does happen. We’ve seen enough from this team through two weeks to know who the playmakers are and who can provide the biggest mismatches. There is also enough now to know which players to call out and who needs to step up.

Simply put, Tennessee football needs to rely on key individuals to turn this season around, and that includes the top players this weekend when they face an FCS school. As we get set to look at which players are going to be key, we’re going to be looking at the most recognizable Vols.

This post we’ll also describe why they’re being mentioned. Given the state of the program, the personnel and X’s and O’s of the opponent are a bit irrelevant, specifically since it is an FCS school that hasn’t shown much. So let’s get started. These are five Vols to watch for when Tennessee football faces the Chattanooga Mocs.
