Northwestern State Demons at No. 4 LSU Tigers

TV: SEC Network

Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. E.T.; Tiger Stadium; Baton Rouge, La.

And just like that, the LSU Tigers are starting to win with offense and not defense. Talk about a shocker with a team led by Ed Orgeron and whose top assistant is defensive coordinator Dave Aranda. Joe Burrow is a superstar, and Steve Ensminger is clearly validating himself as a great hire to replace Matt Canada.

A huge win over the Texas Longhorns last week may finally prove that LSU has taken that next step. You know, that step that Tennessee football has been an ocean away from for years. Anyway, as a result, they get a break this week against Northwestern State, making them another SEC West team facing an FCS program.

Northwestern State is not just an FCS team, but they are a bad FCS team. This group has lost to UT Martin and Midwestern State by margins of 22 and 26 points to open the season. Now they have to go to the southeastern portion of the state of Louisiana to face one of the best LSU teams in a while. It’s a bad combination.

Prediction

There may be no spread here, but this game may be worth watching. LSU, with its newfound offense, may be able to have a historically great outing and win in the largest blowout in years. It’s honestly hard to overstate how much of a blowout this could be. Take the Tigers and all the points you could potentially give them, while Northwestern State scores none.
