Tennessee football: Vols, SEC, top 25 predictions for Week Three of 2019
Arkansas State Red Wolves at No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs
Line: Georgia -33; Over/Under: 58; TV: ESPN2
Saturday, Sept. 14 at 12 p.m. E.T.; Sanford Stadium; Athens, Ga.
Reminiscent of those early 2010s Alabama Crimson Tide teams, Kirby Smart has built a Georgia Bulldogs program that wins game in dominant fashion but also in a super boring way. They shut you down with defense and then coast.
Already 1-0 in the SEC, they get their second straight cupcake this week after crossing 60 points against an FCS team last week. This is their final tune-up before facing the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, then they get a bye and a chance to blow out Tennessee football in Knoxville.
Heading into Athens is an Arkansas State Red Wolves team that lost its opener to the SMU Mustangs but rebounded with a 43-17 victory over the UNLV Rebels. They know how to score, but the question is if they can stop anybody. Also, how can they handle all the emotion with sixth-year head coach Blake Anderson and the loss of his wife? He hasn’t coached the first two games.
Prediction
This is the best offense the Georgia Bulldogs have faced all season. They’ll get a bit of a scare from Arkansas State early, but then they’ll get on a roll in the second half and dominate. ASU allowed 37 points to SMU, so they’ll allow over 50 against the Dawgs. As a result, Georgia won’t cover, but this game does hit the over.
