No. 9 Florida Gators at Kentucky Wildcats

Line: Florida -8.5; Over/Under: 48.5; TV: ESPN

Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. E.T; Kroger Field; Lexington, Ky.

And we now go to the second SEC game of the day. This is a revenge game for a Florida Gators team that lost to the Kentucky Wildcats last year. They have to travel to Lexington to win this one, so there’s a major question as to whether or not they’ll be able to pull out the victory. Will they be upset again?

Florida is looking to take the next step in Dan Mullen’s second year. An ugly win over the Miami Hurricanes drew some concerns, but they did show they have a loaded defense. In the past, this would be a tune-up game for them before Tennessee football. But after last year and the start of this year, this IS the game for them to focus on.

Meanwhile, Kentucky is trying to silence all the critics who said they would be awful this year as they have to rebuild under Mark Stoops. Like the Mississippi State Bulldogs, they’re 2-0 with two ugly wins. And they’ve lost quarterback Terry Wilson for the year. But the defense is still not going anywhere, and this game is at home. So it could be intriguing.

Prediction

Mullen will make sure his team is ready for this one. They won’t overlook Kentucky like last year, especially since the Vols are not threat. Although the Wildcats could still be good, the Gators are much better. Florida will win and cover. The only question is the spread. Given how both offenses has looked, take the Under in this game.

Florida: 31 Kentucky: 13 (Florida -8.5; Under 48.5)
