Lamar Cardinals at No. 16 Texas A&M Aggies

TV: ESPNU

Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. E.T.; Kyle Field; College Station, Texas

Welcome to another boring outing. This is our second meaningless SEC game featuring a team from the West against an FCS school. It’s why this is the worst week of college football. Games like these are happening all over the nation. But given what happened last week, the Texas A&M Aggies have earned this week off.

Jimbo Fisher’s team is trying to prove it took another step, and they did only lose to the Clemson Tigers by two touchdowns on the road last week. But it was really three touchdowns until that final score that meant nothing. Still, A&M is much further along under Fisher than Tennessee football currently is under Jeremy Pruitt.

So with another easy outing, this time against an FCS opponent, Fisher will want to work on some things with his offense. Lamar, to be fair, is a 2-0 FCS team, having just beaten Missouri Valley State Delta 23-20. They may be coming in looking to cash in on A&M’s hangover from the Clemson game last week. But are they good enough after struggling themselves last week?

Prediction

That Texas A&M hangover is irrelevant. The Aggies will dominate this game. Kellen Mond has four touchdowns before the half is out, and the offense gets back on a roll to figure what was wrong last week. Don’t waste your time watching any second of this one.
