Nigel Warrior. player. 839. Pick Analysis. Safety. Senior. 4. Scouting Report

Tennessee football’s struggles to come away with an interception through two games, its inability to contain Dan Ellington and its defensive lapse last week against the BYU Cougars were all reflective of Nigel Warrior. The son of Dale Carter Jr. had a rough start to the season as the glue guy for the entire secondary.

In fact, that BYU Hail Mary was partially on him and the horrible angle he took when he could have made a key tackle. However, Warrior finally rebounded in this game, and he made a crucial play to help put the Vols in control of the game.

With the Vols already up 14-0, Warrior intercepted a Nick Tiano pass and spotted UT’s offense the ball in the red zone with his 22-yard return. It was a crucial play only due to the fact that this secondary was finally opportunistic. They have let a lot of potential turnover slip away, and Warrior came through with that one.

The pick also set up another touchdown to give the Vols their first three-score lead of the game, and Warrior also had two tackles on the day. So he proved he belonged on the list by making big plays in crucial enough moments in this game, which is why he earned a helmet sticker.
