3-0 (1-0). Previous: . Gators . 5. team. 840.

You can complain all day about them looking ugly. The fact is the Florida Gators are 3-0 and have beaten two Power Five teams. They’ve done it with fourth quarter defense and toughness, and that includes mental toughness. Coming back on the road against a Kentucky Wildcats team that beat them last year has to count for something.

Dan Mullen’s program showed what it could overcome as well. After a horrific injury to Feleipe Franks, Kyle Trask came in and led the comeback from being down 21-10 to defeat UK 29-21. That was huge for the Gators, and it also shows that they do have some depth to be able to compete in the SEC.

Now, how long it can go on is up for debate. But for now, they belong in the top five of our SEC Power Rankings. And going forward, we’re about to see just how good they can be with Trask as their signal-caller.

Florida has a history of backup quarterbacks coming out to surprise the Vols, and that’s who they get to host this weekend. Likely to win that one, they then host the Towson Tigers, which should get them to 5-0. But after that, they have two huge games. One is at the LSU Tigers. Before that, though, they host the next team on this list.
