SEC Power Rankings following Week Three of 2019: No change for Vols
We said before last week that the LSU Tigers were destined to score a ton of points on the Northwestern State Demons, and they did not hesitate to put on a show. This team dropped 65 overall, coasting to a dominating victory. That was expected, as they just faced an FCS school, so Ed Orgeron’s team should have done that.
Beating the Texas Longhorns on the road, though, is still the most impressive victory for anybody in the league by far, and that’s why these guys stand tall at No. 1 in our SEC Power Rankings. Joe Burrow is balling at quarterback and working his way into the conversation of the top quarterbacks in the league.
The defense is better than it looked in that game as well. Remember, they did shut down Georgia Southern and that triple-option offense in that first game. The story there, though, was obviously LSU dropping 55 against a team that does everything within its power to shorten the length of the game. But that’s not the point.
What matters is LSU is 3-0. And Orgeron currently looks like an amazing coach. A road trip to the Vanderbilt Commodores and home game against the Utah State Aggies should give this team an easy path to 5-0 before they get their first major test at home against the Florida Gators on Oct. 12. So this team has nothing to worry about right now.
