Very few units earned praise in Tennessee football’s 34-3 loss to the Florida Gators. Here are our grades for the Volunteers at each position.

It’s safe to say that we couldn’t give out too many passing grades after the performance Tennessee football had on Saturday. A 34-3 loss to the Florida Gators left everybody disappointed on Rocky Top.

However, some groups were worse than others. And, to be fair, a few units did show up to play. Again, not all failures are created equal. The Vols played as a team and lost as a team, but it was pretty clear who showed up and who didn’t.

Regardless of the differences, though, Tennessee football is still 1-3 as a team heading into their bye week. Panic is setting in somewhat in Vol Nation, as the start of this season has been an insane letdown for everybody involved.

As we get set to bring you the UT report card from another loss to Florida, know that this was one of the hardest ones to point out solid performances. Even in their first two losses to the Georgia State Panthers and BYU Cougars, they had some units stand out and perform at a high level.

Although some performed at a decent level in the Florida game, very few, if any, were standout groups. It was partially the reason the Vols lost, although the other reason is a couple of units grossly underperformed, and then there were a few key mistakes made by others.

In fact, single mistakes were big reasons for different units’ grades suffering in this game. We’re talking about dropped passes, missed blocks, penalties, lapses in coverage, and things of that nature. They were random but just enough collectively to make a difference.

So which units were the worst out there? Who showed up to make this a game? Find out as we break down the Tennessee football positional grades in their 34-3 loss to the Florida Gators in The Swamp in Gainesville.
