team. 822. . 3-1 (1-0). Previous: . Tigers . 6

Similar to the Ole Miss Rebels, the Missouri Tigers suffered a loss to a Group of Five program on the road to open the season that is not nearly as bad as it looked at the time. And ever since then, Barry Odom’s team is proving it was a fluke. That was especially the case when you consider all the turnovers committed in that game.

A 34-14 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks at home to avenge last year’s loss shows this team is on a roll, as that was two weeks after they blew out the West Virginia Mountaineers. So this group deserves to be the top non-undefeated team in our SEC Power Rankings for now, and we’re going to put them there.

Sure, the Wyoming Cowboys loss was rough. But the offense has taken giant leaps under Derek Dooley since then with Kelly Bryant at quarterback. The more they’ve limited their mistakes, the more they have looked like an elite team.

And they have a chance to add to their roll with the Troy Trojans and Ole Miss Rebels coming to town the next two weeks. Should they win those, then they face the Vanderbilt Commodores and Kentucky Wildcats on the road. They need to go 3-1 in the next four games, and going 4-0 to get to 7-1 is on the table before November. That’s when their tests start, but they come after a bye.
